As a teen, I remember reading articles titled, “What swimsuit should you wear for your body type?” I was given a choice between four different body types, and once I chose one that kind of resembled my body type, I was then matched up with a single swimsuit style.
This way of thinking is so backwards and ancient, so I am going to re-write this story that is so much more relevant for Summer 2020.
Shopping for swimwear is definitely not an easy task, but once you find something that fits you and makes you feel good, then you are definitely winning. Luckily, society’s standards have changed drastically since I was a teenager flipping through magazines for advice. Everyone has their own unique body and skin tone that it seems silly to try to funnel people into only a few body types. Gone are the days of limiting athletic figures to bandeau bikini tops and recommending fuller coverage for curvy body types. Everybody deserves to feel confident and sexy in whatever swimsuit they feel their best in!
The One-Piece: Back in the 80s, one-pieces were known as sexy swimwear, but they went away as a desirable look in the 90s. Lucky for us, now they are back and considered sexy again! One pieces are flattering on everyone! Higher cut one pieces are known for elongating the legs, which helps to make you look taller. One pieces can come as solid and neutral for a more minimalistic look, or they can come with cut outs or patterns for a more edgy look. This piece from Yandy is a black, one-piece swimsuit with cut outs. This one-piece is flattering for all body types, and for those who want to show a little more skin than a more basic one-piece leotard. The Triangle Top Tie-Side Bikini – A triangle top bikini with tie sides is the most common style of bikini. The thing I love most about tie sides is that it is adjustable to how you want it. If you want to hike up the sides of your tie sides, you can, or if you want to tie the halter top really tight to lift your boobs, you can. Triangle tops have been the go-to design for many bikini brands and if you like that minimal coverage look, then this is it. Yandy Snaky Suspicion Bikini

The Criss Cross Top Bikini: There are many creative ways to wear a bikini top, and this one from Yandy just so happens to be made in a fun criss cross style. The top has a high neckline and attracts the attention to the bikini top but hides cleavage. If you don’t want to show major cleavage like a triangle top would give, something like this that wraps around your neck and covers is a perfect type of bikini to wear. Also, if you want a look that’s different from the typical triangle bikini, this is a flattering, sexy style. Yandy Hiss and Makeup Bikini
The Fun Patterned Bikini: Solid colored bikinis are classic, timeless, and look good on everyone. But someone that loves color and patterns may not want to adhere to a plain bikini. This bright neon green and neon pink cheetah print bikini from Yandy is one that is for the fun party girl that doesn’t want to blend in. The top has a cut out to show a little bit of under-boob, and the bottoms are cheeky, showing just the right amount of booty. If you want a bikini that is bright and a little wild, this one is for you. Moves like a Jaguar Bikini
Overall, it’s up to you to determine what makes you feel the best! Triangle tops? One pieces? Colorful looks or funky designs? There is no certain style of bikini that fits perfectly with someone’s shape. Each body type will look good in any bikini type, as long as YOU feel sexy in it! Swimsuits are for everybody, and there are so many different styles of swimsuits out there! I hope find some inspiration in finding your Summer 2020 bikini. Don’t let a blog post tell you what you can and can’t wear! Love you!
