I recently wanted a wallet change so I purchased this Chanel Caviar Wallet. In most cases, I prefer the “Boy” over everything, and the “Classic” would be my second choice. When I looked at wallets, I wanted something more muted and “low-key,” and something that matched my Céline Medium Luggage but didn’t take over the flashiness of the Céline.
WHY CAVIAR LEATHER? From my past wallet buying experiences, patent leather would often show a lot of fingerprints which made it look “dirty” faster. The material also tends to transfer ink from receipts or things with writing on the wallet itself which never comes off. Even though supposedly rubbing alcohol takes it off, I’ve tried numerous times and it never worked. The sales people at the Chanel store say that the Caviar Leather is the strongest leather so we will see about that. Also the Caviar leather doesn’t show scratches as much as the soft leather like lambskin, and the outside coating doesn’t come off like the patent does with its wear and tears.
WHY NOT THE BOY/CLASSIC? Don’t get me wrong, I am obsessed with the BOY style and my eyes tend to always go with the boy for everything. For some reason the wallet looked much “classier” and more “expensive” with the caviar leather big CC’s. The boy was super cute, and super trendy, but it only came in the soft lambskin and the patent which I didn’t really want at that moment. The classic is everything but the interior was burgundy and what I wanted was an all black interior. I just like the flow of a uniform, all-black wallet!
Hope this helps! I’ve become a Chanel Collector – kind of in LOVE. So I will be doing more Chanel reviews for you guys soon!
